I launched Undercarriage Recording in May of 2005 after a 2 year renovation of a carriage house in the Northern Liberties section of Philadelphia, Pa. Since then, it has become a favorite creative hub for all types of musicians and producers from various parts of the world.

Currently, Undercarriage has been scaled back to a production/mix room. We occasionally have smaller bands in, but we’re keeping the flow of traffic down due to a shift in the use of the house. The studio still functions as it always has, being a great space for tracking individual instruments (including drums and Rhodes), We’ve just decided to cut down on the chaos a bit.

There are a few rooms in the Philadelphia area where I am tracking live bands, and I’m not afraid to cart gear to these sessions. Don’t hesitate to contact me if you would like my ears in a room that you’re already comfortable in.

The mobile rig consists of the two Fearn VT24s (and possibly the VLC pair), along with the mic and instrument collection listed below. This should be enough to do the trick in any space with decent acoustics and monitoring.

Shoot me an email if you want to discuss the strategy of your next record.
